About the Event

YOGA FOR SLEEP RECOVERY: THE FIVE STEP YOGA SOLUTION TO RESTORE YOUR REST

Sleep Recovery is a five step yoga-based method for improving your sleep and deepening your rest, so that you wake up feeling more refreshed and happier each day.

Each week on this 5 week course, we will cover one of the steps via a mixture of discussion and practice, all from the comfort of your own home. The yoga for Sleep Recovery steps are all based on the koshas (layers) of the human body.

You will discover your sleep type, according to your Ayurvedic dosha(s), and learn how to work with your natural daily rhythms and become more aware of potential sleep saboteurs that could be impacting on your rest. You will learn how to become better "in tune" with your physical body and will be introduced to a sleep yoga sequence, which helps you to release physical tension in the body before bed.

I will introduce you to the autonomic nervous system and the ways in which we can work with our nervous system, on an energetic level, and move from the over-stimulated fight-flight-freeze (stress) response to the rest-and-digest (calm) state throughout the day and before sleep. You will learn powerful breathing practices that can help you to step away from the stress response and into a calmer state of being. I will also introduce you to restorative yoga poses that allow you to pause and come back into balance throughout the day.

We will look at tools we can use, such as meditation and journalling, that allow us to respectfully acknowledge and digest our thoughts and emotions during the day and before bed, so as to set us up for a peaceful nights sleep. We will discuss thought patterns and brain wave states, and how understanding these can support us to train the brain to make sleep transitions easier.

You will be provided with a workbook to write notes in during the course, as well as a sleep quiz to complete beforehand. I will also provide a sleep log for you to complete after your first week.

I was trained in Sleep Recovery by the lovely Lisa Sanfilippo, psychotherapist, yoga teacher, author and sleep expert. By signing up to this course you will also receive a FREE copy of the amazing Sleep Recovery book by Lisa Sanfilippo, which I will post to you before the course commences.

If you previously attended one of my Introduction to Sleep Recovery workshops, please contact me before booking so that I can provide your £10 off voucher code!

The weekly sessions will be held on Zoom; I will send you the meeting links each week. The first week is a 90-minute session, with the remaining weeks 75-minutes. All sessions will commence on a Sunday evening at 7.15pm, starting on Sunday 28th February 2021 for 5 consecutive weeks.

Please note that there is also a Sleep Recovery course running on Tuesday evenings, at 7.00pm, from the 2nd March 2021. You have the option to attend one of those sessions if you are unable to do the Sunday. Please purchase the course ticket most suitable i.e. Sunday or Tuesday and then speak to me if you need to swap a day on a given week.

Any questions at all just email me, Georgina, at happyyouyoga@gmail.com.

I cannot wait for you to start your sleep recovery journey :-)
